Client Success Story: Deb’s Postural Transformation
Meet my online coaching client, Deb (name changed for privacy).
When Deb first started, she wasn’t in pain—but she didn’t like the way her body looked when standing or walking. She noticed she appeared “crooked” in the mirror, which really bothered her.
After just one month of corrective exercise coaching, her posture completely changed, and her confidence soared.
The Starting Line: Deb’s Challenges
When Deb began, her main issues included:
A lateral pelvic tilt (excessive sideways tilt of the pelvis)
Her right hip was hiked up while her right shoulder dropped down toward the hip
An imbalanced look when standing or walking
While mild versions of this posture don’t always cause problems, more intense cases can lead to:
Uneven low back tightness
SI joint issues
Side neck tightness
Shoulder discomfort
The Assessment
Through my detailed postural analysis, here’s what we found:
- Significant lateral pelvic tilt
- Right-sided QL (Quadratus Lumborum) tightness
- Right hip hike pulling the spine and shoulder down
- Imbalance beginning at the pelvis and zig-zagging upward into the spine, shoulders, and neck
Since the pelvis is the base of the spine, any tilt here impacts everything above it. In Deb’s case, the imbalance was primarily driven by muscular tightness and postural habits.
The Customized Solution
To restore her alignment, we focused on:
Balancing the QLs
Correcting foot & ankle mechanics to reduce pronation
Unilateral strengthening to balance both sides of her body
Postural awareness drills to retrain her daily alignment
The Transformation
